What is IoT

The concept of IoT is very simple: it’s about connecting devices over the internet, letting them talk to us, applications, and each other. For example: A smart coffee vending machine what if your fridge could tell you it was out of milk or coffee power or sugar texting you if its internal cameras saw there was none left, or that the carton was past its use-by date?

Why would i learn IoT now?

IoT is not something new. It’s already here. Companies like Google bought the Nest Thermostat, Apple is coming out with Home Kit, ARM and Intel have both released new developer tools, Relayer got $2.3M in funding from Cisco to build an Internet of Things App ecosystem and Samsung announced earlier this year that they want to connect 90% of their devices by the end of 2017.

  • 1.2.2 How to store these In a Gateway Buffer or How to hold Data
  • 1.2.3 How to Pass the Data on to the network for controlling via App or any remote Device
∗ How to Decide IoT gateway? (Intel/Raspberry-Pi/Beagle-bone/Arduino/TI/Arm)
  • 1.3.1 What is Gateway ? why its needed ? Difference between IoT gateway and WSN Device?
  • 1.3.2 Difference between IoT gateway protocols and WSN protocols.
  • 1.3.3 Design consideration of IoT Hardware/SoC in terms of Power consumption,Data memory, Range/connectivity, Protocols constraints on Soc, Run-time etc.

  • 5.3 MQTT protocol for their web service for IOT.
  • 5.4 IPV4 addressing problem for IOT and introduction to IPv6 is required to address more devices.
