Tools that Business analyst should know

As a business analyst i am bridge between stakeholders and technical development team. since we act as bridge, we need to be clear about our requirements and output of the project. While working on any project we need to draft documents, collect data, create wireframes, pull data and store the information in different application/tools. We a business analyst we need to flow some rules and regulations which falls from the an institute of business analysis (IIBA) it sets the standards and regulations for a BA.it also provide learning resources and frameworks. We also need to flow some core concepts to define the framework like Change,need,solution,stakeholder,value and context. Which helps us to identify business needs, analyse problems, how to work with stakeholders and recommend solutions. While undergoing the above process will come across below tools to helps us to build a best tool/application. so mainly we use different tools like 1)MS Excel 2)Power Point 3)MS Word 4)SQL 5)MS Visio 6)Axure RP 7)Power BI 8)Tableau 9)JIRA 10)Confluence Lets us briefly discuss about the tools now Productivity and documentation tools : MS Word, EXCEL and PPT : these are the tools used to gather requirement's, data analysis, stakeholder communication, requirements traceability and to analysis gap, modeling the techniques and to know more about the insights and project tracking can be recorded in about mentioned tools. These are the core tools for a BA. SQL,TABLEAU and POWER BI: SQL is an structured Query language mainly used for Data analysis and visualization tools, these application help us to extracting data and provide us the interactive dashboards for comparisons. tableau and power BI are smart tools to create the dashboards with high interactive graphs and algorithms. MS VISIO,DRAW.io the are process modeling and diagraming tools which are used for to draw use case diagrams, data flow, sequence diagrams and state chart diagrams etc. MS Visio is a subscription we need to have but draw.io tool we can get it free from google. JIRA, Confluence: these are the project and requirement management tools used for tracking, bug log, user stories, issues listing and drafting the information in cloud which can be view by all them team members with limitations. most of the companies use this project management tools its very important to know about this tools as a BA we can get a free subscription of Jira so we can have trail run on it. Slack, MS TEAMS, Zoom: we can use these tool for quick commination and know the availability of the resources. We can also share the information and also can have remote communication easily. these tools are easy way for communication which reduces the work time with fastest communication. chat GPT/Copilot: as we a emerging into AI world we can also use the AI powered tools for drafting requirements, summarizing the meeting and for initial analysis. we should to give the right prompt to generate the right output always understand the requirement perfectly and draft the prompt like wise we need to interact with the AI agents in there language.
